The team at Hatters Promotional Merchandise is absolutely thrilled to have won the coveted ‘Promotional Merchandise Supplier of the Year’ trophy at the Marketing Services Awards ceremony (the ‘COGS’), hosted by TV celebrity Paul Ross at Centrepoint in London.

MD Jo Shippen, who was also runner-up in the ‘Individual of the Year’ category, remarks: ‘This is a huge accolade for my team. It confirms that both the customers who voted for us and a panel of industry professionals acknowledge our company as one that delivers. We saw off some pretty stiff competition from big gun distributors making Hatters’ win even more significant.’

The Institute of Promotional Marketing and the ‘Promotional Marketing’ magazine award the COGS, in recognition of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes, to make a marketing campaign come to fruition. Clients and agencies are asked to nominate individuals or companies they have worked with in the past 2 years and who have provided outstanding service, above and beyond what was expected of them.

Stockport based Hatters Promotions has recently embarked on a programme that changes lives around the world. 

 

Hatters is now partnering with B1G1 — a simple yet powerful way of giving back. Through B1G1, each Hatters sale of promotional products now creates its own specific (and positive) impact.

 

Already, Hatters have linked their products in surprising ways — from providing water to children in Malawi, shelter for a person in Nepal, hot drinks for the homeless in Auckland and numerous other causes.

 

Jo Shippen, founder of Hatters, was shocked when she learned that only 4% of all money given to charities is from companies. 

 

‘Imagine what would happen if companies took the decision to give regularly.  Just imagine the difference and impact it would have.  It would impact so many lives in such a positive way. I’m delighted to say that we’ve already had an impact on over 500 people.’

 

Jo Shippen said that the impact was being felt in other ways too. ‘Although we’ve always had a great team here at Hatters, the team is even more energised knowing that every time someone buys our products, some real good gets done.’

 

She explained that B1G1 gives her business a ‘giving engine’ that allows easy access to over 600 projects across 22 different countries. 

 

‘It means we now can feel great about our business making giving an effortless habit. Jo Shippen, Managing Director of Hatters Promotional Merchandise completed the Manchester 10K, as part of ‘Team Merrick’ this Year on behalf of National Charity BASIC.

 

BASIC stands for Brain and Spinal Injury Centre, who are experts in rebuilding lives following Brain tumours, strokes and associated head injuries.

 

Fundraising accounts for 90% of the money raised for BASIC, which enables them to provide clients with a wide range of activities and services to assist with rehabilitation and their lives.

 

Jo completed the Manchester 10K along with a group of friends from Team Merrick and between them have raised more than £5,000 for the Charity.

 

Team Merrick, headed up by Manchester based Family Solicitor Amanda Merrick, are a team of 18 like minded people who have been brought together by Amanda.

 

 Jo says “ I took part in the Manchester 10k Three Years ago on behalf of CAFT ( Children’s Adventure Farm Trust) and I am delighted once again to be part of the team and completing the 10K for the Charity, BASIC, this year. Team Merrick has been a great support to me over recent years in my personal life and this theme has continued throughout the event, which for me, is what this is all about”

Hatters are delighted to announce that Debbie Simpson, who will be a familiar name in the industry, has joined the Hatters team with immediate effect bringing new business as well as her existing client base,  with her.

 

Interestingly, Debbie is based in Jamaica and Hatters have been able to accommodate this distance by modifying their internal systems including phone lines.

 

Debbie has a wealth of industry experience gained over the last 18 years and during this time has built up a raft of valuable relationships and accounts with various Key clients.

 

Hatters will provide a natural fit for Debbie to continue to develop her existing accounts as well as new ones in the Award –winning manner they are accustomed to.

 

Jo Shippen, Managing Director says ‘I was really excited to discover that Debbie has become available. I had met Debbie a number of times as we were members of the Advantage Catalogue Group, and felt she had exactly the right qualities to compliment the existing Hatters team.

Debbie’s long term objective was to look for a well established company that could service her existing clients to a very high standard, which is what she has found with hatters. The fact that Debbie is based in Jamaicadoes not affect how we operate – we believe in globalisation and it certainly makes our ‘Jamaican Office’ a talking point! ’

rebrand their company image

 

Hatters promotional merchandise and print choose USP Creative to design a

complete Company rebrand.

 

Liverpoolbased USP Creative were chosen by hatters to spearhead the design

element of the rebrand as they have a long term relationship, and are familiar

with the ‘personality’ of hatters.

 

Hatters’ brand personality could be defined as ‘mad as hatters’ with a fresh, fun

team that can deliver what they promise.

 

USP Creative came up with several brand themes for hatters to consider; from

rabbits in a hat through to party hats. The final brand identity is based around

party hats which will lend itself to tangible mailers.

Hatters Promotions are proud to announce the launch of a complete company rebrand.

Hatters has also changed it’s name from Hatters Gifts to Hatters Promotions, which reflects the

growth and expansion into providing quality promotional and print items to a large scope of

sectors. Hatters wanted to keep the first part of the name the same as it is synonymous with

Stockport, the birthplace of hatters.

 

The rebrand is timed to fall in line with hatters’ 10th Birthday celebrations, and the launch of

hatters new website www.hatterspromotions.com is an integral part of the new branding.

 

Managing Director, Jo Shippen says “Hatters has developed and maintained firm relationships

with a wide range of business sectors, from Blue chips corporations, advertising agencies, media

buyers, and event management Company’s right through to SME’s. We felt the time was right

as it is our 10th birthday to invest in refreshing hatters’ image and branding which conveys the

personality of hatters in a fun and fresh way and brings the brand image bang up to date”

 

The new brand identity is based around the colour Orange, which friends of hatters already

associate the brand with, and the new business cards are in the form of party hats. The party

hat theme continues throughout all rebranded mediums and is bright and interactive.

 

Hatters wanted the new website to be clean, easy and quick to navigate around and with

smarter functionality, including a quick search facility as well as an in depth search that will

allow customers to search on more than X thousand products, which will assist potential

customers to easily locate the items they need for their event or promotion.

 

The new site also has quick and easy buttons that allow customers to order samples, brochures

or send an enquiry so the Hatters team can do the legwork for you.

The rebrand is also an opportunity to let customers and prospects know that hatters has two

strands to the business, promotional merchandise and promotional print, with the latter running

successfully for more than 15 years, offering a complete solution to promotional and event

needs.

 

To promote the brand refresh and new website, hatters will be informing their customers and

prospects via a range of marketing initiatives from e-shots and PR to Direct Mail as well as a
